Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report initial examinations show the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; investigators are currently not cognizant of any harm in association with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A senior official stated the attack made him without words and required to be resolved quickly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the death of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
